Tarot lessons: Learn to Read Non-Scenic Pip or Tarot de Marseille Style Tarot Cards with Marilyn
This class is a pre-recorded class option. The class is a total of about eight hours, spread over eight classes, some well more than an hour, and some slightly less. Length of class depends on the content and is appropriate the lesson.
I am always happy to talk tarot, so never hesitate to contact me at: [email protected] Indicate your name and that you are a student in the subject line.
Requirements For Course:
Student must have a non-scenic pip-style deck for this class. The pips might be decorative, but they are not scenic.
A deck in the Waite-Smith or Thoth traditions will not be helpful for this course. You do not need to spend a fortune on a tarot deck for this course, and a few inexpensive and readily available decks mass produced decks which I recommend are: The Spanish Tarot by Fournier, Ancient Italian Tarot by Lo Scarabeo, Visconti Tarots Deck by Lo Scarabeo, and Claude Burdel Tarot of Marseille by Lo Scarabeo.
Artisan Tarot has many beautiful TdM (Tarot de Marseille) styled decks and they shuffle divinely.
Artisan Tarot decks are midway priced between commercial decks like Lo Scarabeo and US Games Systems Inc decks, and the more expensive art decks such as Yves Renaud, Giordano Berti, Sullivan Hismans, Il Meneghello, and Marco Benedetti decks.
The 1JJ Swiss Tarot deck, which is a Besancon styled deck, may also be used. Even the Fergus Hall deck created for the James Bond film Live and Let Die would work.
Choose a deck based on your personal aesthetic. But it must be pip-style or TdM for this class. Ask me if you aren't sure about a deck.
Assignments to be completed on your own are included with each lesson and will expand the scope and time spent on each lesson.
This course is designed to allow the student to work at her/his own pace and have access to Marilyn with questions that might come up.
Eight hours won't make anyone a tarot master, I've been reading and interpreting the cards for nearly forty-five years, and I still encounter learning myself, but these lessons represent decades of research will save you years of research and allow you to learn more quickly.
Lessons include a little bit of history to put the cards in context and lots of exercises for hands on experience, so if history isn't your thing, this class might not be the one for you. Tarot history is fascinating though, and if you love tarot, I think you'll love this course.
