Tarot Lessons with Marilyn

SIGN UP NOW! Learn to Read Pip-Style and Tarot de Marseille Style Tarot
Next Class beginning November 1, 2020.

A total of seven hours, dates and times flexible to suit your schedule.

Now is the perfect time to learn this ancient skill, taught by someone who's been reading the cards for nearly fifty years!

The ideal student for this class is one who is new to pip-style and TdM decks and wants to learn how to read them. You may be new to Tarot altogether, or making a switch from RWS or Thoth.

Tarot has been around for hundreds of years, and since its inception it's been a fascinating collection of human experience and expression.

My method of teaching tarot, is to go back to the beginning, to Medieval and early Renaissance Italy, and 1600s France, to acquaint my students with old school meanings of the trump images and numerology.  This class will be using pip style cards which predate the Rider Waite Smith Tradition. The style of tarot interpretation I teach can also be applied to any pip-styled cards. Bear in mind that TdM can rightly reference the Tarot of Milan (Italy) from the mid 1400s, (which is where and when what we now call Tarot began), and other northern Italian decks as well as the Tarot of Marseilles which came later, out of France in the mid 1600s.

If you can read TdM and pip-style cards, you can read anything.

My preference for teaching TdM and pip-style style reflects my ambition to help you understand tarot at its core. If you understand where something comes from, you understand what it is about, and you have a better grasp of its mechanics.

Each lesson I deliver is about an hour in length and lessons are paced at a week apart. Some lessons might run a little longer.  I suggest you pace yourself at a week apart, because each lesson will include exercises for you to do at your own pace and prepare you for the next lesson.

I deliver the lessons via recorded video which I feel will best facilitate the concepts being taught. At the end of the video series I offer each student a private live meeting to serve as Q&A for the material taught. Naturally, I am always available in between for questions, but the live video is a nice way to touch base.

Seven hours won't make anyone a tarot master, but my lessons will allow you to benefit by my decades of experience with tarot and save you years of research.

SIGN UP NOW for next class session beginning November 1st, 2020.

A total of seven hours, spread over seven one hour classes.

Classes, dates and times flexible since it is a pre-recorded format.

Marilyn will be available to answer all questions between lessons.

Requirements: Student must have a pip-style deck for this class. The pips might be decorative, but they are not scenic.

A deck in the Waite-Smith or Thoth traditions will not be helpful for this course. You do not need to spend a fortune on a tarot deck for this course, and a few inexpensive and readily available decks mass produced decks which I recommend are: The Spanish Tarot by Fournier, Ancient Italian Tarot by Lo Scarabeo, Visconti Tarots Deck by Lo Scarabeo, and Claude Burdel Tarot of Marseille by Lo Scarabeo. The 1JJ Swiss Tarot deck, which is a Besancon styled deck, may also be used. Even the Fergus Hall deck created for the James Bond film Live and Let Die would work. All of these decks are available for about $30.00+- USD. Choose a deck based on your personal aesthetic. But it must be pip-style or TdM for this class.

The format is a total of seven hours delivered via video sessions over a of seven weeks.

Assignments to be completed on your own are included with each lesson and will expand the scope and time spent on each lesson.

Marilyn will be available for questions in between lessons and will provide a final live video to answer any questions.

This course is designed to allow the student to work at her/his own pace and have access to Marilyn with questions that might come up while learning between classes.

Seven hours won't make anyone a tarot master, I've been reading and interpreting the cards for nearly forty-five years, and I still encounter learning myself, but these lessons represent decades of research and allow my students to save years of research and get to learning more quickly.

Lessons include a little bit of history to put the cards in context and lots of exercises for hands on experience, so if history isn't your thing, this class might not be the one for you. Tarot history is fascinating though, and if you love tarot, I think you'll love it.

Lessons can go on for as long as you like, per special agreement with Marilyn, but the base format of this class is seven hour long sessions.
